The National Shooting Sports Foundation, the trade association for the firearms, ammunition, hunting and shooting sports industries, has donated $10,000 to the Fraternal Order of Police to support the National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service.

NSSF made the donation to help honor the memories and families of the law enforcement officers from the United States who died in the line of duty in 2017.

“We are deeply grateful and humbled that our nation and our communities have been served by these men and women,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “The quality and caliber of these law enforcement officers who stood in the gap to protect their fellow citizens and communities is an ideal to which we all aspire. We are forever grateful to them, and their families, for their full measure of devotion to their fellow citizens.”

The National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service, hosted by the Fraternal Order of Police, is held annually May 15 in Washington, D.C. More than 20,000 people attend to honor those who have fallen in the line of duty. This year marked the 37th year of the Service.
