Back before the 1996 Atlanta Olympics during a Team USA media day, shotgun coach Lloyd Woodhouse was pretty high on one young team member making her debut.

That rookie was no stranger to international competition, but Kim Rhode was a newcomer to the Olympics.

More than 20 years and six Olympic Games appearances later, Rhode is the most decorated Olympic shooting sports athlete in history. She's not slowing down, either, with the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in her sights.

Rhode recently was named the inaugural recipient of the new Winchester Legend Award.

“The Kim Rhode list of accolades and achievements in the shooting sports is unprecedented,” said Matt Campbell, vice president of sales and marketing for Winchester Ammunition. “This recognition certainly captures her achievements in the shooting sports, but more importantly, she is a tremendous ambassador for the shooting sports and hunting industry. Winchester is honored to be aligned with such a legendary athlete and person.”

Rhode and Winchester Ammunition have been together almost three decades. She won her first World Championship at age 13.

“I’ve been shooting competitively for most of my life, and Winchester Ammunition has been there supporting me from the very beginning,” Rhode said. “Whether in a duck blind or in an Olympic shoot off, I know I can depend on my Winchester ammunition and I’m proud to represent such a great company.”

I've been fortunate to be able to interview Rhode a couple of times and visit at the SHOT Show. She's a fantastic ambassador for the shooting sports and hunting world. Rhode began developing a love of the outdoors as a child on outings with her family. Today, along with a love of restoring cool muscle cars, she is passing along the outdoors passion to her family.

Rhode is a six-time Olympic medalist and the first American athlete in history to win six consecutive medals in an individual sport. For years she has competed against the world’s toughest competition using Winchester AA  shotgun shells. Rhode is currently preparing for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
