Steyr recently updated its U.S. website and announced a new rifle for spring 2019, the Monobloc, which features a one-piece receiver and barrel.
Steyr rifle barrels are cold hammer-forged, so the one-piece design incorporating the receiver iis new for the company. The Monobloc combines leather inlays in the forearm, grip and cheekpiece in an ergonomic stock that is a departure from traditional designs. It's a bolt-action with a detachable trigger unit, oversized trigger guard (for those mornings with gloves), aluminum bedding block and more.
The rifle has a 22-inch barrel and weighs a smidge more than 8 pounds. It's coming to the European market first and will be introduced to the U.S. market in January at the annual SHOT Show in Las Vegas. The Monobloc will be available in .308 Win and .30-06 Springfield at first with more calibers to follow.
