Shaw Precision Guns, a division of E.R. Shaw, America’s oldest and foremost independent gun barrel manufacturer, has begun production of a new series of AR-Platform rifles. Dubbed the ERS-15, the line is built around upper and lower receivers precision machined from 7075-T6 aluminum forgings, and of course E. R. Shaw premium-grade barrels.
The upper, which features an M4 feed ramp, can be had in a black anodized or Cerakote finish. For the lower, the precision wire EDM process is used to form the magwell, which reduces the stress and distortion which otherwise can result from broaching.
The basic model, which carries an MSRP of $750, comes standard in black finish with a Magpul buttstock and handguard, and a 16-inch 4140 Melonited 4140 HBAR barrel. From there the customer can upgrade to a Cerakote receiver finish in FDE (Flat Dark Earth), OD green, tan or Stealth Gray.
Barrel options consist of either Melonited 4140 chrome-moly or 416 stainless in either matte or polished finish. The 16-inch barrels are offered in M4 or HBAR contour, 18-inch in HBAR and the 20-inch in Bull contour only. Three fluting options can be had: straight, staggered or E.R. Shaw’s patented helical fluting. Calibers offered are 5.56 NATO or .300 AAC Blackout.
This new line of ERS-15 rifles joins the Mark VII Gen II series of semi-custom bolt-action rifles that are available in over 90 standard and wildcat chamberings and in a higher degree of customization than any rifles near their price class. For more information, visit www.ershawbarrels.com.
